The new enhanced IDs issued by states and countries have several security features that may include ultraviolet inks and numbers with special coding. Therefore, I would advise against submitting an ID cards made with the methods I describe to the police or at an airport to purchase a ticket.
However, the only security feature that most people will look for or even know about is a hologram. Therefore, an ID made by the methods I describe should be adequate for normal situations where there is no intent do harm and where no harm is done such as enrolling in college course, renting a mail box or storage unit, making cash purchases, or even opening a bank account if you have a matching SSN.
I do recommend that you apply a similar hologram or a simulated hologram since most people know to look for a hologram. They may be pricy.
